Fast Track Photo Books from Freeze Frame Publishing!

In a hurry?  No time to make a photo book to commemorate that special occasion?  In less than 10 minutes you can create a photo book using Fast Track from Freeze Frame Publishing!

1.  Open the photo book program and select either the Create New Book or Fast Track option.

2. Select Fast Track

To create our Classic 8.5" x 11" landscape photo book, select the Landscape option. Click Next.

3.  Select the Keyhole Cover option for our Classic 8.5" x 11" Landscape photo book.

4.  Select a theme.  For this example I chose Clean (white page backgrounds). When the book wizard is finished and before you order your photo book you can add or change background images if you like using the stock backgrounds (available in the software and accessed through the backgrounds tab near the bottom of the screen) or your own pictures.

5. You will now select your pictures. TIP: Create a folder with the pictures you wish to use in this photo book.  The Fast Track program uses ALL the pictures you select.  It will save you time if you pre-select your pictures.

6.  Select the pictures you wish to use.  For this example I created a folder, Bowl Party, with all of the pictures I wish to use in this photo book.  I clicked the Select All option from the top tool bar. You can also select individual pictures, but this will add time to your book building.

7.  This Fast Track book will have 36 pages and use all 108 pictures I selected.  The more pictures you select, the more pages your finished book will have. Approximately 60 pictures are needed for a Fast Track 20-page photo book.  Remember: you can always edit your photo book by removing or adding pictures and pages before placing your order.

8.  To place your pictures in a specific order, select Preview Pictures.

9. Click, drag, and drop your pictures in the order you want them to appear in your book. For this example, I chose the picture I wanted on the first page.

10.  Add a caption to your first page.  If you do not want a caption, leave this area blank and click Next to finish.

11.  You're Finished!  Before placing your order you can view each page and add captions, change backgrounds, change picture layouts and sizes if you like.  Send to FreezeFrame and leave the rest to us!  Remember to Share Online with friends and family.  You can send anyone on your email list a virtual copy of your newly, quickly created photo book.  Click the Share Online button and follow the prompts. TIP: send the virtual photo book to yourself and forward the link to all of your friends and family. This method will save you time, too.

We hope you enjoy using our Fast Track wizard.  If you have any questions, please email me.

We welcome your comments and suggestions.

How To Save Your Completed Projects for Future Printing

What would happen if next year you wanted to order another copy of a photo book you ordered this year? Could you order an additional copy? Well, that depends!

If you still have the photo book stored in the software, no problem!

Is there a way to save completed projects for the possibility of future printing? YES.

Before you delete your completed projects we encourage you to make a back-up copy in the event you need an additional copy at a future date. You never know! But with a few quick steps, you can save your files... just in case.

Step-by-Step directions for saving a completed photo book file:

1. Open your saved book project. This can be done from the opening prompt, or by choosing 'open' from the FILE tab on the top tool bar of the program.

2. Click the 'Send to FreezeFrame' button.

Your book will process just as it does when you submit your order online.

3. Check the "I have examined the proof..." box and the Continue button.

4. Select the "I prefer to bring the file with me to the store" button.

5. Prepare to save your book on your computer.

6. Select where you wish to save your project file. In this example, I have chosen to save the file under Jen's Documents. Name your file. In this example I named the file saved 8x11 pma. Press Save.

Your photo book is now saved for future printing if necessary. Please remember that you cannot read this file as it is encrypted. Also, you cannot change or edit this file. This file can be saved to a CD or flash drive and sent to Freeze Frame Publishing for printing at a later date.

Follow this process to save cards and calendar projects, too.

If we can be of any assistance, please contact us at info@freezeframepublishing.com or me at laura@freezeframepublishing.com.

Add Blocks of Text to Your Photo Books!

Q. Is there a way to add blocks of text to my photo books?

A. Yes, there is! Follow these simple steps and you can save yourself some typing time. This example uses a word document and Freeze Frame Publishing photo book software for PC.

Step 1: Select the page you would like to copy and paste your pre-existing text. Add a caption box (This can be done from the top tool bar under the Insert tab, or by right-clicking your mouse and selecting Insert.). Enlarge the caption box. Move your cursor arrow to a corner of the caption box; when the double-ended arrow appears, pull your cursor towards a corner of the photo book page. Minimize the photo book program.

Step 2: Open your word document. Highlight the text you wish to copy. Then press both the Ctrl and C buttons to copy your text. Minimize your word document.

Step 3: Expand the photo book program. With your cursor in the text box, press both the Ctrl and V buttons to paste your text. Re-size the caption box as needed.

A few things to remember as you copy text from a word document into the photo book program:
* all text will be the same size, the same font, and the same color within the text box.
* you can change the size, font, and color of your text.
* if you want some words to be italicized or a different color you will need to create a new text box for each change you wish to make within your text block.

Which Photo Book Size to Choose?

If you are new to photo book building with Freeze Frame Publishing, you may have questions on which photo book size to choose.

Once you have launched the photo book program from your desktop, and after you have selected the 'create new book' option, you will see a dialog box with a drop down menu. You will have five different book choices from which to choose.

Your first choice is our Classic book. It is our most popular sized photo book. It is a landscape orientation. It has a "keyhole" cover which means that one of your pictures will show through the cover. You have several binding options available with this size. Please see our Products and Pricing page for our most complete binding offerings.

Your second and third choices are for our Lay-Flat books. Both of these choices are 8.5" x 11" with one book having a landscape orientation and the other book having a portrait orientation. The pages in these books literally 'lay-flat;' they are mounted on a heavier stock paper. Black leather is the only available cover option for our lay-flat photo books. Custom hard covers are not yet available in our lay-flat books.

Your fourth and fifth choices are for our Square books. You can select a 12"x12" square book or an 8"x8" square book.

Once you have made your choice, you are ready to begin 'framing your memories.' Please refer to our blog post: Load Your Pictures and Start Framing Your Memories for more information on how to load your pictures into the photo book software. More information is also available in our HELP section.

If you find that you want to change book sizes before you send your completed project to Freeze Frame Publishing, you can! Book sizes can be changed to other sizes of the same shape. For example, an 8" x 8" can be changed to a 12" x 12". Also, if you start with a lay-flat book and change to a keyhole cover, any text on the first page will not transfer.

If you have any questions please contact us. We're here to help.

Load Your Pictures and Start Framing Your Memories!

We're glad you're ready to build your first book with Freeze Frame Publishing. We'd like to share a few tips with you to make your book building easier and more enjoyable.

Tip #1:
Create a folder for all of the pictures you wish to use in your photo book. Name it. Save it on your computer's desktop. Keep your picture folder here all the while you work on your project. Each time you open your saved book, the program looks for your pictures in the same location they were when you originally loaded them in to the software.

Tip #2:
The easiest way to load your pictures into the software is to open the photo book program; select the book type you wish to make.

Once the software has opened, find your picture folder. Move your cursor over the folder. Using your left mouse button, click, hold and drag your folder to the picture tray at the bottom of your screen.

Release the mouse button. Your pictures will appear in the picture tray!

Move your mouse to the top of the software screen, select page one by clicking your left mouse button on the page. Your book will open. You are ready to begin 'framing your memories.'

Tip #3:
Save your book by moving your mouse cursor to the "file" tab located at the top of the photo book screen. A drop-down menu will appear. Select "save" and follow the prompts. You can work on your book at a time convenient for you.

Our software for photo books, cards and calendars is very flexible and easy to use. All of our products are fully customizable from page backgrounds to fonts, templates, page layouts, picture borders and enhancements. You have just completed your project and you are now ready to send it to Freeze Frame Publishing for printing. Did you know that you have one more opportunity to proof your project before it is printed?

After clicking the Send to FreezeFrame button (see red arrow in the above picture), the Upload screen appears. Before checking the "I have examined the proof for correctness..." and before clicking the continue button at the bottom of the screen, click the View button (see blue arrow in the above picture) to see one last proof of your project.

We can also check the back page of our informational postcard.

If we wish to make any changes we still can. Simply close out the "View" page and click the "Cancel" button at the bottom of the Upload screen. Your project will be in edit mode, ready for any last-minute changes you wish to make.
